From an early age, the rebuilding of an injured body fascinated Charles. During a visit to a NBA sports clinic, he was shown how a player goes from being sidelined by an injury to being the starting player on the court. Since that time, "I was hooked," Charles says. He made it his goal to be a part of the medical profession that helps individuals progress from a dependent state to an independent state. A native of Washington, D.C, Charles graduated from Howard University with a Masters in Physical Therapy in 2000. He also holds degrees in Health Sciences and Allied Health Sciences from Howard University and Oakwood College, respectively. Charles specializes in general musculoskeletal and orthopedic injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, and workers compensation. A Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist and Functional Capacity Evaluator, Charles incorporates manual treatments, along with targeting exercises to restore range of motion and functionality to injured areas. Charles believes the most important factor when recovering from an injury is being consistent with the plan of care prescribed by your therapist. "I preach to my clients 'consistency is the key,'" he says. "Treatment plans can be modified, but you must be consistent." Since 2000, Charles has helped many people regain use of muscles and restored a quality of life once thought unattainable. With the opening of Aristos Health Group in 2004, he has applied his philosophy of therapy to benefit his clients. "Most of all," he says, "I am rewarded when I am able to help someone get better and achieve their goals." |
